The AAMC of Waterbury is proud to announce the foundation of an annual scholarship for college-bound freshman. The goal of this scholarship is to reward students who display the highest moral standards by being an active contributor to their community. Please pay close attention to all the directions and guidelines. The application must be completed and include all requested information in order to be considered by the Scholarship Selection Committee.
The AAMC Community Scholarship will award two (2) high school seniors the amount of $500 (each). In order to be eligible for this scholarship, students must be of Albanian descent and be enrolling in an accredited 2 or 4 year university/college degree program. Awards will be merit-based; selection will be based on academic records and the essay portion of this application. A blind selection committee of 5 educators/community leaders will score essays. Scholarships recipients will be notified by May 31st, 2012 – and awards will be formally dispersed at the AAMC Annual Albanian Festival in June 2012.
All applications must be postmarked by Sunday, April 1st, 2012 and are to be mailed to the AAMC Scholarship Selection Committee:

Please read and follow this outline carefully.
1. The applicant must be a senior attending any high school in the state of Connecticut in order to apply for the AAMC Scholarship.
2. The applicant must be of Albanian descent.
3. The applicant must be enrolled in a two or four year degree program at an accredited university or college
4. An essay must be attached to this application. The topic is as follows: Explain why being community minded is an important factor in being a part of society today. What you have done in your community to improve quality of living? What does being Albanian teach you about community spirit? (1-2 pages)
5. The application must be post marked by April 1st, 2012.
**The chosen applicants will be awarded the scholarship at the Albanian Festival in Waterbury in June 2012.**
The candidates will be considered on the following criteria:
A. Academic Performance
B. Character, Leadership and Merit in the Albanian Community
